Off to....LA

Monday, June 7, 2010
No... I didn't go to LA as in Los Angeles - couldn't afford to go there.. not yet anyway ;)

Today, me and my BFF along with our colleague and her 3 children went for a day trip to the neigbouring country, Labuan. It's an island actually just off Brunei and Kota Kinabalu and it belongs to Malaysia.

Went there aboard Seri Anna (the vessel/ship - whatever you want to call it) and the journey takes 1 hour 40 minutes one way.

Here are some pictures from today's trip...

the vessel - Seri Anna

aboard Seri Anna - the view of the sea

aboard Seri Anna - the view of the Serasa Ferry Terminal

view of Muara Port

passing the Royal Brunei Navy ships

in the open sea, this HUGE cargo ship passed by

It was my second trip to Labuan and I gotta say nothing much has changed since December 2006. The trip was tiring and the weather was so hot and as my BFF said, it's the first time she sweat like a pig! LOL!

Nevertheless, it was a fun day out and grateful thanx to my BFF for the trip day ;)

Finally.... the artists!

Sunday, June 6, 2010
Okay! By now, I think everyone knows who is the winner of the American Idol season 9. BUT just incase you had been out cold for the last 2 weeks (LOL!), Lee DeWyze is the winner.

Did he deserves to win? In my honest opinion, Crystal deserves more to win but hey, it's not me who voted so, I guess it didn't matter that much. Besides, the result was final.

Anyhoo, I was just browsing the net looking for new songs and I checked the Billboard Top 100 and guess who I found? Lee DeWyze! And believe it or not, he has 2 songs in the top 50! And so does Crystal although she only has 1 song in the top 50!

And I was saying to myself, "Geeezzz, these people wasted no time. You just won 2 weeks back and there you are - in the Billboard!"

Anyway, congratulations to both Lee and Crystal! Finally, they can call themselves 'artist
s'.

Exhausted, Full but Suprisingly still hungry... *eh?!*

Saturday, June 5, 2010
Tonight was my Uncle Yun Onn's another wedding dinner reception here in Bandar and it's almost to midnight and we just came home.

After a whole day debating what to wear, I finally wore what I wore (haha! which was the unusual me!). Btw, there will be no pictures posted from tonight's event considering that my camera battery gave up on me even before the function started. Well, blame me for not charging it...hehe.

The dinner started at 7.45pm and believe it or not, it was a 10-course dinner. By the 3rd course, I think it was the fried rice, I was kindda full but nothing can stop me from enjoying and taking more of the food (I love to eat!!).

I managed to sit thru' all the 10 courses and I am pretty sure I am full. But when I came home, I feel hungry again or is it just the desire to eat something before sleep?

I have sweet tooth and above is my (almost) midnight snack. The cake is from my Uncle's wedding reception, the donut was from lunch and the hot chocolate drink, I cannot live without ;)

And oh ya! Did I ever mentioned that Brunei is small?? I met 3 of my high school mates tonight that I haven't meet in *calculating mode* 13 years! Yup! 2 of them are just casual school mates but one of them is considered my best friend during the high school years and somehow, it doesn't feel that way no more. We are basically like 2 people who happen to know each other. Anyway, no use to crack my head for those problems. I live my life accordingly.

Congratulations to my Uncle Chong Yun Onn and Aunty Ng Mei Chun!
May both of you have a wonderful, meaningful live together ;)

Night night peeps!

When In Rome

One word = HILARIOUS!!

It's been a long time I wanted to watch this movie and only today, I finally did! (watched it, that is). And it was not disappointing!

It was hilarious! It's a romantic comedy starring Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel (he's a hottie! Sorry Fergie! LOL!). Beth (Kristen) is a workaholic wonderful lady who is always unlucky in love. When her sister, Joan got married (in Rome!), Beth met the best man, Nick and thought he is the one until she saw a lady kissing him infront of the Fountain of Love.

A bit frustrated and drunk, she went to the Fountain of Love and collect some coins from the fountain, thrown by people who hoping in finding love.

Back to New York, Beth was 'stalked' by 4 men and Nick. For those of you had seen this movie, I do hope you enjoy it as I did but for those who haven't, I'm not gonna spoil all the fun!! But really, you must watch this movie. It makes being single not bad at all LOL!!!

Btw, I was practically laughing out loud and nearly rolled down my bed watching the scene above when all the 4 admirers (minus Nick) were trying to get Beth to the museum... so funny!!!

Who says men don't gossip?

Friday, June 4, 2010

And yes! Men do gossip.

I'm not just talking about gay men here (no offence!) but I'm talking about straight men. And if you (straight men out there) saying that you don't gossip, gosh, you must be a hypocrites!

And how do I know these?

I often hangouts with some of my male friends; may it be colleagues, old male friends and new male friends. You put yourself among 2 - 3 adult males, they sure will talk. You would be amazed on how much these men can 'talk' (as they like to call it) about so many things and about so many people.

And I have to say, sitting down and hanging out with the male friends is the new way of getting informations... LOL!

Art Exhibition

Wednesday, June 2, 2010
Few weeks back, there was an art exhibition entitled "Dix-moi dix mots" (Tell me 10 words) in conjunction of the Francophonie Week which was held in Sheraton Utama Hotel in the capital from 6th till 11th April 2010.

I didn't manage to catch any of the events - the exhibition, the movies and the concert (which was a big loss) but my brother, Faiz went to the art exhibition and managed to took some of the arts.

These 2 pictures above are not part of the art exhibition but I have to say, my brother managed to catch the picture very nicely... love it!

I love this cup and saucer (that's what I think it is)... cute!

This piece has to be my personal favourite.
Simple yet divine ;)

Uncle Yun Onn and Aunty Mei Chun Wedding Reception - 30th May 2010

Last Saturday afternoon, me and my family went back to Temburong for my uncle's wedding reception. Well, the reception was being held on Sunday but considering that we had a big family dinner, so we decided to come back early.

And considering that last Sunday and Monday were public holidays here in Brunei, man, the q was so-freaking-longgggg! The 2 hours journey (max) from Bandar to Temburong took us double of that time due to long q-es everywhere!

I was not feeling that well, with sorethroat, headaches and runny nose and with 4 hours sitting in a car didn't help that much. We ended up late for the family dinner but luckily they put aside soo many leftovers for us that I slept like a babe thru' the night.

Woke up early in the morning, had my shower and got ready for the wedding reception which was being held in the Belalong Hall, Bangar.

Here are some pictures from the reception.

The entrance of the hall

I don't know why everyone so serious and formal....

The only picture of the bride and groom that my brother didn't spoil! LOL!

Me, my cousin and my nephew

The newly wed with parents from both families

My multi-religion and multi-race family from my mum's side

First, there are only 2 of us....

....then there are 3 of us....

.... then there are 5 of us....

....and at last, 7 of us and if including my dad (in the background)
that would be 8!

Another reception would be held here in Bandar this coming Saturday night.

Note: to view the picture clearer and larger, click on the image... thank you ;)

ALIAS will be back??

Tuesday, June 1, 2010
Fans of ALIAS, please rise your hands! *both of my hands are waving in the air*

Okay! Before I confused anyone with what I'm talking about, my topic here and this ALIAS I mentioned is the TV series back in the 2001. I'm a HUGE fan of that series starring Jennifer Gardner and Michael Vartan *he's adorable*!

The series ran for 5 seasons and stopped in 2005 and believe it or not, I got copies of all the seasons. Told you I'm a huge fan!

Anyway, why I brought this up? E! News has it they are coming back! YAY! Eventhough it's not a sure thing yet but rumors has it that they had start filming ALIAS 2.0! If this is sooo true, I be sure don't want to miss it!

At least with Scrubs no longer airing, I have ALIAS to look forward to this September! I hope they are still keeping the old casts. It's been a long time I didn't see Michael Vartan. Last time I saw him was in Monster-in-Law with Jennifer Lopez!

"Sexy Inside The Car"

"Sexy Inside The Car"

Imagine this scenario:

One morning, on your way to work, you are stuck in the traffic jam (alone in you car) and a car with this car sticker was infront of you. What do you do?

a. do nothing and ignore it (plainly it shows how un'creative' you are. LOL!)
b. check out the driver
c. make a snickering comment
d. move to the other lane
e. none of the above

Well, that's what happened to me one morning. This car was infront of me, I read the sign for fun and I check out the driver.

My comment: let's just say that the driver gives me a new definition of 'sexy'. The driver is a guy so it's either it's not his car or that's his definition of sexy. Haha! If you are clever enough, you will get what I meant!

Miss Me?

LOL!

It's been a week I didn't update my blog and believe it or not, it had been a week I didn't check my mail.

The reason? Well, the server was down at work hence no free internet surfing at work. And my broadband? You would not believe what a hassle I had been thru by the small broadband.

My broadband line had been deactivated. Reason for deactivation? I didn't charge it so they disconnect my line. I was 2 hours late for the reactivation that they decided I don't need the line no more. They gave me 2 options; ask the owner to reactivate the line for me or buy a new line.

Option 1: This broadband was a gift from an ex-boyfriend who got it from his (ex)girlfriend, I think. If you can figure this out, you would know how complicated it would be to ask my ex-boyfriend to ask his whatever-girlfriend to reactivate the line for me... so...

Option 2: I go for this option! I went to b.mobile, register a new line (with unlimited access!) I LIKE!! Hehe!

So, no worries... I would be blogging as usual ;)

Dilemma of a 8 years old car!

Note: This is not the real picture of my car but the colour is the same and instead of that sports rim, mine is a lot more nicer LOL! But I think you got the idea.

My beloved boyfriend aka my car celebrated his birthday this 6th June. It would be his 8th year with me. It's the time of the year where I have to buy the car insurance and road tax but this year, 1 additional task.

For every cars that managed to reach their 8th years, the owner has to bring him/her to the Land Transport for the car inspection to ensure the safety and reliability of the car on road. The hassle thing about car inspection is that:

1. you have to q-up very very early or you would end up waiting in the line under the hot sun (eventhough you are in the comfort of our car still the outside is hot!)

2. your car must pass the inspection before you can go and buy the road tax.

3. if your car fail, you have to fix whatever is wrong with your car, q-up (again!) for another inspection and pay double of the amount of the inspection (which is quiet cheap here in Brunei) and hopefully your car pass after that.

My boyfriend aka my boyfriend that is (if you still haven't got the hint), well, basically he is okay. There is nothing wrong with him - after so many complains and all - let's just say that he's been behaving nice lately.

But the problem came with his rugged look (LOL!). Rules of Brunei's Land Transport, no modified and bodykit car unless it is stated in your car's bluecard. Luckily for me, my sport rims are stated in the bluecard but not the tinted front screen, not the shades (all sides of shades) and definitly not my plate number.

So, can you imagine what I gotta do to get rid of all those before the inspection? A lot, I gotta say. And while doing it, I was saying to myself, why did I do all these stuffs to my car? Well, the answer is simple... coz I love my car so much that I wanna him to look nice ;)

Anyway, I managed to ask my eldest brother, Wadi to bring my car for the inspection and he loves his sister so much, he doesn't mind doing it ;)

At first, my brother said that the inspector couldn't find anything wrong with my car until he inspected my tyres. Turn out, my tyres are an inch wider than the 1 stated in the bluecard. But thank God, my brother managed to settle that problem. Thanx bro!

Starting the week with...

Monday, May 24, 2010

... Monday

I don't hate Monday... well, okay, maybe sometimes I do hate Monday but not every Mondays I hate. I know 70% people out there dislike Monday. For me, Monday is unfortunately just the day after the Sunday. So what happen, if Tuesday or any other day than Monday is the day after Sunday, would you hate that day too?

Anyway, today, somehow, I feel lazy! Yup! Lazy but I don't hate Monday!

I don't know why I feel like such. I don't have enough weekend? Nah, I did have enough weekend by enjoying myself.

It's Energy Day today and for the first time ever, the petrol station near my area is quiet. No just plain quiet but not a single car I saw in the petrol station this morning while I passed by. LOL! Guess the Bruneians really being cautious about the fuel price today. Good for us!! Yea!

It's just coming to lunchtime and I still have few more hours to go before I can call it a day!

Have a nice day everyone!

Can I be faithful?

Saturday, May 22, 2010
Believe it or not, this is a question asked by a friend who I haven't meet in a really really long time via Facebook.

I have to say, Facebook is really an amazing web thing. I mean, you can reconnect with all those friends that you haven't meet for ages and meet new friends. Few weeks back, I reconnect with a childhood friends of mine and I haven't meet or talk to that person since I was 8 years old!!

So, we are keeping touch with each other and updating each other with our currents news when things started to get personal.. personal stuffs and he asked why I'm not married yet. Haha! As if he is married already! LOL!

Anyway, we got to talk and talk and he asked me, "Can I ever be faithfu to just 1 man?"

OK! Just to get things straight here.. I'm not a flirt nor do I flirt around. I like to admire God's creations may it be in nature and in person.

When I was in relationships, true, I couldn't help but to still look at the georgeous hunks! Haha! I mean, who wouldn't, right?

Imagine you are walking with your boyfriend/girlfriend and a gorgeous man/lady walkes by, don't tell me you don't look and stare??! Haha! My philisophy, you can look but you can't touch. There is no harm in looking but touching, would be another different matter...

Anyway, let's just say that most of my relationships don't work out because most men couldn't 'handle' me! LOL!!! Which is what my colleague and my boss told me. And I haven't meet the right man for me to look at and trust.
So my dear friend, does that answer your question? ;)

Switch Off and Set (SOS)

In conjunction with the Energy Day on 24th May, Brunei's citizens are urge to participate in SOS campaign. The Switch Off and Set (SOS) campaign would start from 9am till 9pm.

The SOS would emphsis on switching off the unnecessary lights and other electrical appliances, to switch off the refrigerator and water heater and to switch off the air conditioning or to set the temperature 1 degree celcius higher.

As for me, I would be at work on that day and as everyday, I switch off all the electrical appliances, the air conditions and water heater at my room as no one enters my room when I'm not around.

I could switch off some unnecessary lights at work and setting the air conditioning temperature a degree celcius higher but to switch it off totally would be unthinkable due to the drugs we keep.

At the end of this campaign, the total energy saved for the period would be announced in the local radios.. cool eh! I hope Brunei's citizen would participate and it would be an achievement to know that we somehow tried to save our energy.

On the same day, the fuel prices would be sold without the government subsidy. If any of you out there don't know this yet, fuel in Brunei is subsidzed by the government.

Fuel Grade - Without Subsidy (24th May) - With Subsidy
Premium 97 - $0.98/litre - $0.53/litre
Super 92 - $0.92/litre - $0.519/litre
Regular 85 - $0.86/litre - $0.36/litre
Diesel - $0.91/litre - $0.31/litre

Of course, the Brunei's citizens would be unhappy due to this change but it is mainly done to create awareness to conserve our energy resources and why not we do it in small steps? Besides it would be only for a day. So, if you don't want to spend unnecessary expenses to pay for the fuel for that day, buy fuel a day earlier... I bet the fuel stations would be choas during the weekend.

WHAT? That's it??!

Wednesday, May 19, 2010
I know the series are coming to the end of the season and I had been expecting it especially for Mercy tv series.

My assumption was that the season would end at episode 20 but when there are episodes 21 and 22, so I folishly thought that it would end with the rest of the other series - at episode 24!

But no! I just found out yesterday that... that's it! The episode 22 is the last episode of the season 1!

Are they (the producers, directors and writers... basically the whole tv show!) kidding me? I was at the edge of my seats for the last couple of days, anticipating the next episode!

In episode 22, so many unanswered questions that need to be answered and me being me, of course getting impatient. Briggs got engaged with the ex-gf after he kissed Chloe; Mike somohow got into trouble when he tried to help a lady; Chris went to Afghanistan and the plane got hijacked and Veroica as always, still couldn't make up her mind!

But then I guess despite my impatient nature, I gotta wait till September... if they are coming up with the second season....

Movies and Series Marathon

Wednesday, May 12, 2010
... it's my way of paying back myself from working so hard for the last few weeks.
After my midnight duty and with my grandma warded, I had less time for myself and when I came back to work.... woissee I was swamped with all the paper works and updating drug usages.
Thankfully, now it's a bit okay. I managed to take a breather; managed to settle most of my work and I pampered myself with watching all those movies and series that I had left behind previously.

The Amazing Race 16 is coming to the end at last in which the brothers, Dan and Jordan won the $1M! Pufff! Lucky guys! I was hoping for the cowboy brothers, Jet and Cord to win but... I guess it's not their luck. But I gotta salute them for being the coolest team in this whole race (or in the whole amazing race seasons). They never shout at each other (apart from words of encouragements) and as they sais, they are the bestest of friends and bestest of brothers! You guys rock!!! Brent and Caite came in 3rd, which is not bad for Caite I guess. At least she proved herself not to be dumb (well, apart from the part she left all their bags and money behind!!)... haha! Gosh! That's harsh!

American Idol; Aaron Kelly got eliminated last week, which is a shame! I kindda like him. So now with Crystal, Big Mike, Casey and Lee, well... I wouldn't be suprised if either Crystal or Lee wins the American Idol this year. So far, both of them never got to the bottom 3 or 2. Big Mike? Yoy! As Randy says, I'm a fan, man! And I am still Big Mike's fan.... and Didi Benami's, no matter what!

The series - Bones, CSI, CSI New York, CSI Miami, Grey's Anatomy, Mercy, NCIS LA - all almost coming to the end of the season. But I still have a long way to go to finish all the series. I got left behind and at the moment I got around 4 episodes from each series that I haven't manage to watch yet!

Movies; ahhh... this is the easiest part. Somehow I managed to watch the movies faster rather than the series. The latest movies I watched would be the:

Iron Man 2

This is one of the movies I'm waiting for. And I guess it's true that the sequeal can never beat the first movie. But with Robert Downey Jr., I can endure anything... LOL!!

Ip Man 2

But this is 1 movie I have to say that just get better and better. If you love watching the first 1, you gotta watch this one. As my friend said, "it's hard to keep your emotion intact while watching this one."

The Back Up Plan

The first movie I watch from this hunky Aussie...
This movie kindda funny, in a way.
We always assume that we get to know a person, fall in love, get married and start a family but in this movie, what happen if it's the other way round?

The Bounty Hunter

Okay! Nothing can make me say anything... i mean ANYTHING bad about Gerry! He's my man... if you know what I mean! So... Gerry + Jennifer Aniston = BOOM!!!
Is it true they are dating?? or merely being buddies?? *jelousy mode*

Valentine's Day

Tell me a movie - just 1 - where you can get all the A-list stars in 1 movie??
The answer is above! Every hot, A-list stars are in there...
If this is not a great romantic movie by your standard, I don't know what movie is...
