Off to.... Miri

Sunday, June 13, 2010
Last Friday, a day just before I reported back to duty, me and my family went for a road trip to another neighboring country, Miri.

We saw lots of Bruneian buses with the Bruneian passengers also going to Miri. Must be the school holidays. And you must be wondering what Bruneians do in Miri? I don't know about others but for me it would be the shopping, the foods and window-shopping (which eventually come back to shopping.. LOL!)

First, they turning to the right....

The 'pilot' and the 'co-pilot' aka Dad and Mum

Then, they turning to the left....

Now, they are wide awake!

Baju Pengantin Mak Andam

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Title: Baju Pengantin Mak Andam
Author: Areila Sahimi
Publisher: Kaki Novel
No. of Pages: 524 pages

Before typing in this entry, I was thinking (very hard) what was the last malay novel I read before and honestly, I couldn't remember (still thinking very hard!).

Baju Pengantin Mak Andam (BPMA) - it is the novel I just bought yesterday and today, while babysitting my grandma, I managed to finish it. Yup! I basically stayed at home and read 1 whole novel in a day.

I couldn't remember when was the last time I enjoy reading a book without crying. I mean, mostly malay novels are too emotional and most of them make me cry but with BPMA, I cried because it was soo funny! I have to salute the author. This book is one book that is a combination of funny + a nice story to go with and I enjoy reading it so very much.

The synopsis of this story?? Hmmm... I think I lost touch writing synopsis - for this book anyway. Don't get me wrong. The story is not that complicated (trust me! I had read some complicated novels) but somehow, my synopsis won't do any justice to the novel.

However, I can give to links if you interested to read some of the chapters of the book, here it goes...

Off to....LA

Monday, June 7, 2010
No... I didn't go to LA as in Los Angeles - couldn't afford to go there.. not yet anyway ;)

Today, me and my BFF along with our colleague and her 3 children went for a day trip to the neigbouring country, Labuan. It's an island actually just off Brunei and Kota Kinabalu and it belongs to Malaysia.

Went there aboard Seri Anna (the vessel/ship - whatever you want to call it) and the journey takes 1 hour 40 minutes one way.

Here are some pictures from today's trip...

the vessel - Seri Anna

aboard Seri Anna - the view of the sea

aboard Seri Anna - the view of the Serasa Ferry Terminal

view of Muara Port

passing the Royal Brunei Navy ships

in the open sea, this HUGE cargo ship passed by

the view of the chimney from inside

It was my second trip to Labuan and I gotta say nothing much has changed since December 2006. The trip was tiring and the weather was so hot and as my BFF said, it's the first time she sweat like a pig! LOL!

Nevertheless, it was a fun day out and grateful thanx to my BFF for the trip day ;)

Finally.... the artists!

Sunday, June 6, 2010
Okay! By now, I think everyone knows who is the winner of the American Idol season 9. BUT just incase you had been out cold for the last 2 weeks (LOL!), Lee DeWyze is the winner.

Did he deserves to win? In my honest opinion, Crystal deserves more to win but hey, it's not me who voted so, I guess it didn't matter that much. Besides, the result was final.

Anyhoo, I was just browsing the net looking for new songs and I checked the Billboard Top 100 and guess who I found? Lee DeWyze! And believe it or not, he has 2 songs in the top 50! And so does Crystal although she only has 1 song in the top 50!

And I was saying to myself, "Geeezzz, these people wasted no time. You just won 2 weeks back and there you are - in the Billboard!"

Anyway, congratulations to both Lee and Crystal! Finally, they can call themselves 'artist
s'.

Exhausted, Full but Suprisingly still hungry... *eh?!*

Saturday, June 5, 2010
Tonight was my Uncle Yun Onn's another wedding dinner reception here in Bandar and it's almost to midnight and we just came home.

After a whole day debating what to wear, I finally wore what I wore (haha! which was the unusual me!). Btw, there will be no pictures posted from tonight's event considering that my camera battery gave up on me even before the function started. Well, blame me for not charging it...hehe.

The dinner started at 7.45pm and believe it or not, it was a 10-course dinner. By the 3rd course, I think it was the fried rice, I was kindda full but nothing can stop me from enjoying and taking more of the food (I love to eat!!).

I managed to sit thru' all the 10 courses and I am pretty sure I am full. But when I came home, I feel hungry again or is it just the desire to eat something before sleep?

I have sweet tooth and above is my (almost) midnight snack. The cake is from my Uncle's wedding reception, the donut was from lunch and the hot chocolate drink, I cannot live without ;)

And oh ya! Did I ever mentioned that Brunei is small?? I met 3 of my high school mates tonight that I haven't meet in *calculating mode* 13 years! Yup! 2 of them are just casual school mates but one of them is considered my best friend during the high school years and somehow, it doesn't feel that way no more. We are basically like 2 people who happen to know each other. Anyway, no use to crack my head for those problems. I live my life accordingly.

Congratulations to my Uncle Chong Yun Onn and Aunty Ng Mei Chun!
May both of you have a wonderful, meaningful live together ;)

Night night peeps!

When In Rome

One word = HILARIOUS!!

It's been a long time I wanted to watch this movie and only today, I finally did! (watched it, that is). And it was not disappointing!

It was hilarious! It's a romantic comedy starring Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel (he's a hottie! Sorry Fergie! LOL!). Beth (Kristen) is a workaholic wonderful lady who is always unlucky in love. When her sister, Joan got married (in Rome!), Beth met the best man, Nick and thought he is the one until she saw a lady kissing him infront of the Fountain of Love.

A bit frustrated and drunk, she went to the Fountain of Love and collect some coins from the fountain, thrown by people who hoping in finding love.

Back to New York, Beth was 'stalked' by 4 men and Nick. For those of you had seen this movie, I do hope you enjoy it as I did but for those who haven't, I'm not gonna spoil all the fun!! But really, you must watch this movie. It makes being single not bad at all LOL!!!

Btw, I was practically laughing out loud and nearly rolled down my bed watching the scene above when all the 4 admirers (minus Nick) were trying to get Beth to the museum... so funny!!!

Who says men don't gossip?

Friday, June 4, 2010

And yes! Men do gossip.

I'm not just talking about gay men here (no offence!) but I'm talking about straight men. And if you (straight men out there) saying that you don't gossip, gosh, you must be a hypocrites!

And how do I know these?

I often hangouts with some of my male friends; may it be colleagues, old male friends and new male friends. You put yourself among 2 - 3 adult males, they sure will talk. You would be amazed on how much these men can 'talk' (as they like to call it) about so many things and about so many people.

And I have to say, sitting down and hanging out with the male friends is the new way of getting informations... LOL!

Art Exhibition

Wednesday, June 2, 2010
Few weeks back, there was an art exhibition entitled "Dix-moi dix mots" (Tell me 10 words) in conjunction of the Francophonie Week which was held in Sheraton Utama Hotel in the capital from 6th till 11th April 2010.

I didn't manage to catch any of the events - the exhibition, the movies and the concert (which was a big loss) but my brother, Faiz went to the art exhibition and managed to took some of the arts.

These 2 pictures above are not part of the art exhibition but I have to say, my brother managed to catch the picture very nicely... love it!

I love this cup and saucer (that's what I think it is)... cute!

This piece has to be my personal favourite.
Simple yet divine ;)

Uncle Yun Onn and Aunty Mei Chun Wedding Reception - 30th May 2010

Last Saturday afternoon, me and my family went back to Temburong for my uncle's wedding reception. Well, the reception was being held on Sunday but considering that we had a big family dinner, so we decided to come back early.

And considering that last Sunday and Monday were public holidays here in Brunei, man, the q was so-freaking-longgggg! The 2 hours journey (max) from Bandar to Temburong took us double of that time due to long q-es everywhere!

I was not feeling that well, with sorethroat, headaches and runny nose and with 4 hours sitting in a car didn't help that much. We ended up late for the family dinner but luckily they put aside soo many leftovers for us that I slept like a babe thru' the night.

Woke up early in the morning, had my shower and got ready for the wedding reception which was being held in the Belalong Hall, Bangar.

Here are some pictures from the reception.

The entrance of the hall

I don't know why everyone so serious and formal....

The only picture of the bride and groom that my brother didn't spoil! LOL!

Me, my cousin and my nephew

The newly wed with parents from both families

My multi-religion and multi-race family from my mum's side

First, there are only 2 of us....

....then there are 3 of us....

.... then there are 5 of us....

....and at last, 7 of us and if including my dad (in the background)
that would be 8!

Another reception would be held here in Bandar this coming Saturday night.

Note: to view the picture clearer and larger, click on the image... thank you ;)

ALIAS will be back??

Tuesday, June 1, 2010
Fans of ALIAS, please rise your hands! *both of my hands are waving in the air*

Okay! Before I confused anyone with what I'm talking about, my topic here and this ALIAS I mentioned is the TV series back in the 2001. I'm a HUGE fan of that series starring Jennifer Gardner and Michael Vartan *he's adorable*!

The series ran for 5 seasons and stopped in 2005 and believe it or not, I got copies of all the seasons. Told you I'm a huge fan!

Anyway, why I brought this up? E! News has it they are coming back! YAY! Eventhough it's not a sure thing yet but rumors has it that they had start filming ALIAS 2.0! If this is sooo true, I be sure don't want to miss it!

At least with Scrubs no longer airing, I have ALIAS to look forward to this September! I hope they are still keeping the old casts. It's been a long time I didn't see Michael Vartan. Last time I saw him was in Monster-in-Law with Jennifer Lopez!

"Sexy Inside The Car"

"Sexy Inside The Car"

Imagine this scenario:

One morning, on your way to work, you are stuck in the traffic jam (alone in you car) and a car with this car sticker was infront of you. What do you do?

a. do nothing and ignore it (plainly it shows how un'creative' you are. LOL!)
b. check out the driver
c. make a snickering comment
d. move to the other lane
e. none of the above

Well, that's what happened to me one morning. This car was infront of me, I read the sign for fun and I check out the driver.

My comment: let's just say that the driver gives me a new definition of 'sexy'. The driver is a guy so it's either it's not his car or that's his definition of sexy. Haha! If you are clever enough, you will get what I meant!

Miss Me?

LOL!

It's been a week I didn't update my blog and believe it or not, it had been a week I didn't check my mail.

The reason? Well, the server was down at work hence no free internet surfing at work. And my broadband? You would not believe what a hassle I had been thru by the small broadband.

My broadband line had been deactivated. Reason for deactivation? I didn't charge it so they disconnect my line. I was 2 hours late for the reactivation that they decided I don't need the line no more. They gave me 2 options; ask the owner to reactivate the line for me or buy a new line.

Option 1: This broadband was a gift from an ex-boyfriend who got it from his (ex)girlfriend, I think. If you can figure this out, you would know how complicated it would be to ask my ex-boyfriend to ask his whatever-girlfriend to reactivate the line for me... so...

Option 2: I go for this option! I went to b.mobile, register a new line (with unlimited access!) I LIKE!! Hehe!

So, no worries... I would be blogging as usual ;)

Dilemma of a 8 years old car!

Note: This is not the real picture of my car but the colour is the same and instead of that sports rim, mine is a lot more nicer LOL! But I think you got the idea.

My beloved boyfriend aka my car celebrated his birthday this 6th June. It would be his 8th year with me. It's the time of the year where I have to buy the car insurance and road tax but this year, 1 additional task.

For every cars that managed to reach their 8th years, the owner has to bring him/her to the Land Transport for the car inspection to ensure the safety and reliability of the car on road. The hassle thing about car inspection is that:

1. you have to q-up very very early or you would end up waiting in the line under the hot sun (eventhough you are in the comfort of our car still the outside is hot!)

2. your car must pass the inspection before you can go and buy the road tax.

3. if your car fail, you have to fix whatever is wrong with your car, q-up (again!) for another inspection and pay double of the amount of the inspection (which is quiet cheap here in Brunei) and hopefully your car pass after that.

My boyfriend aka my boyfriend that is (if you still haven't got the hint), well, basically he is okay. There is nothing wrong with him - after so many complains and all - let's just say that he's been behaving nice lately.

But the problem came with his rugged look (LOL!). Rules of Brunei's Land Transport, no modified and bodykit car unless it is stated in your car's bluecard. Luckily for me, my sport rims are stated in the bluecard but not the tinted front screen, not the shades (all sides of shades) and definitly not my plate number.

So, can you imagine what I gotta do to get rid of all those before the inspection? A lot, I gotta say. And while doing it, I was saying to myself, why did I do all these stuffs to my car? Well, the answer is simple... coz I love my car so much that I wanna him to look nice ;)

Anyway, I managed to ask my eldest brother, Wadi to bring my car for the inspection and he loves his sister so much, he doesn't mind doing it ;)

At first, my brother said that the inspector couldn't find anything wrong with my car until he inspected my tyres. Turn out, my tyres are an inch wider than the 1 stated in the bluecard. But thank God, my brother managed to settle that problem. Thanx bro!
