You Again

Saturday, October 30, 2010
Finally!

After waiting for so long for this movie, I finally watched it last night!

And I gotta say, it was not as I expected... well, it was not as hilarious as I was expected, anyway.

But, it's really a great movie!

"Chewing Gum"

Friday, October 29, 2010
An Australian man was having coffee and croissants with butter and jam in a cafe, when an American tourist, chewing gum, sat down next to him.

The Australian politely ignored the American, who, nevertheless started up a conversation. The American snapped his gum and said, "You Australian folk eat the whole bread?" The Australian frowned, annoyed with being bothered during his breakfast and replied, "Of course."

The American blew a huge bubble. "We don't. In the States we only eat what's inside. The crusts we collect in a container, recycle them. transform them into croissants and sell them to Australia."

The American had a smirk on his face. The Australia listened in silence. The American persisted, "D'ya eat jam with the bread?"

Sighing, the Australian replied, "Of course." Cracking his gum between his teeth, the American said, "We don't. In the States, we eat fresh fruits for breakfast, then we put all the peels, seeds and leftovers in containers, recycle them, transform them into jam and sell it to Australia."

The Australian then asked, "Do you have sex in the States?" The American smiled and said, "Why, of course we do." The Australian leaned closer to him and asked, "And what do you do with the condoms once you've used them?"

"We throw them away, of course."

Now it was the Australian's turn to smile. "We don't. In Australia, we put them in a container, recycle them, melt them down into chewing gum and sell them to the United States. Why do you think its called Wrigleys?"

Friday Jokes..

Laughter #1

A tour bus driver is taking a group of seniors down a highway when he is tapped on the shoulder by a little old lady. She offers him a handful of peanuts which he gratefully accepts.

After about 15 minutes, she taps him on the shoulder again and she hands him another handful of peanuts.

She repeats this gesture about five times.

When she is about to hand him another batch, he asks the little old lady, "Why don't you eat the peanuts yourself?"

"We can't chew them because we've got no teeth," she replies.

The driver is puzzled and asks, "Why do you buy them them?"

"We just love the chocolates around them."

Laughter #2

Three dead bodies turn up at the mortuary, all with very big smiles on their faces.

The coroner calls in the police to tell them what has happened.

First body, "Frenchman, 60, died of heart failure while making love to his mistress. Hence the enormous smile, Inspector," says the coroner.

Second body, "Scotsman, 25, won a thousand pounds on the lottery, spent it all on whisky. Died of alcohol poisoning, hence the smile."

The Inspector asked, "What of the third body?"

"Ah," says the coroner, "This is the most unusual one: Big Seamus O'Quinn from Donegal, age 30, struck by lightning."

"Why is he smiling then?" inquires the Inspector.

"Thought he was having his photo taken!!"

Letters to Juliet

Tuesday, October 26, 2010
Seriously people...
you gotta watch this one!

Our opinions might be varied but it's worth watching it!

Sophie, a fact checker for The New Yorker went to Verona, Italy for a pre-honeymoon with her fiance, Victor - a chef. The vacation is suppose to be for them to spend time together before their marriage and Victor's restaurant opening.

But once there, Victor is busy with meeting with all his suppliers and left Sophie alone, wandering around the city of Verona until 1 day, she stumbled upon this courtyard where ladies write letters to Juliet about their problems and seeking for advices. These letters are pasted on a wall and at the end of the day, the letters are picked and replied by 4 ladies who called themselves "the secretaries of Juliet." Sophie, who wanted to be a writer, tagged along.

1 day, while plucking letters from the wall, Sophie found a letter written 50 years ago. She replied to that letter and the next thing she knows, the lady who wrote the letter - Claire - and her grandson - Charlie - are in Verona, looking for the lost love 50 years ago.

Together, the 3 of them traveled the vast expense of Verona, Tuscany and Siena in search for Claire's Lorenzo. Would they succeed? and what happened along the way?

Ok! I admit, I'm a hopeless romantic and this movie is definitly one of the romantic movies I had ever seen....

"Dear Claire, What and If are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: What if? What if? What if? I don't know how your story ended but if what you felt then was true love, then it's never too late. If it was true then, why wouldn't it be true now? You need only the courage to follow your heart. I don't know what a love like Juliet's feels like - love to leave loved ones for, love to cross oceans for but I'd like to believe if I ever were to feel it, that I will have the courage to seize it. And, Claire, if you didn't, I hope one day that you will. All my love, Juliet"

"Birth Control Pill"

Monday, October 25, 2010
An elderly woman went to the doctor's office. When the doctor asked why she was there, she replied, " I'd like to have some birth control pills."

Taken aback, the doctor thought for a minute and then said, " Excuse me, but you're 75 years old. What possible use could you have for birth control pills?"

The woman responded, "They help me sleep better."

The doctor thought some more and continued, " How do birth control pills help you sleep better?"

The woman said, "I put them in my granddaughter's orange juice and I sleep better at night."

Another joke adapted from "The Office Inbox Joke Book"

Hope you enjoy your Monday ;)

Life As We Know It

Oh! My opinion about this movie might be biased (coz Josh Duhamel is in it).
Apart from Gerard Butler, Duhamel is someone I couldn't resist to watch.

Just came back from watching this movie this afternoon and it's a must watch movie - super nice, in my opinion anyway...

3 years ago, a blind date set up between Holly (Katherine Heigl) and Eric (Josh Duhamel) by their best friend, Peter and Allison went terribly wrong and ever since then they couldn't stand each other. But considering that they have mutual best friends, the couldn't avoid each other.

Until one day, Peter and Allison were involved in an accident which killed them both, leaving their only daughter, 1 year old Sophie. And Peter and Allison gave full custody of Sophie to Holly and Eric if they are gone.

From that moment on, everything went upside down for this 2 adults - they have to live together to take care of Sophie.

What's amazing about this movie is that, the Sophie character is played by a triplets - Alexis Clagett, Brynn Clagett and Brooke Clagett =) and they are super super super adorable!!

Oh! and did I mentioned that I'm a sucker when it comes to adorable, good looking men? No? Oh well, now you know..
Enter Josh Lucas, who played Dr Sam in this movie.
He is just super adorably yummy! LOL!

But those men asides, this is a movie you must watch.
How far is your love for your best friends? even when they are gone....

Me and Twitter

Sunday, October 24, 2010
I had been a twitter member oh, I think since a year ago.. or was it 2 years back?
But I rarely use it.
Why?
Coz I have no idea how to use the twitter...
... so basically I'm clueless about twitter.

I think I haven't grab the whole concept of tweeting yet.
Facebook-ing, I'm not a regular but I do check my facebook page everyday.
In my opinion, twitter is like 'stalking' LOL!
I dunno if that's the correct word for it but that's how I feel.

Hollywood superstars, artists and who-is-who are using twitter to 'communicate' with others outside of their circle - their fans and all.
And it's a good thing too.
I mean, if I'm a dying fan of some actors or artists, I would like to know what they are up to...
... but for me, what's the use of tweeting?

*hmmmm... *

Anugerah Cinta - Nurmi Syakimi

Saturday, October 23, 2010

Title: Anugerah Cinta
Author: Nurmi Syakimi
No. of Pages: 493 pages
Publisher: Alaf 21 Sdn Bhd

I just bought this novel yesterday and I finished reading it last night - 8 hours straight! Now, some of you would ask me, is the novel worth it to finish it in 1 night? Is it really a page turner?

It's the first time I heard of this writer and well, obviously it was her first novel I read.

I'm not sure how to classify the storyline - love triangle? Hmmm.. not really. 4 main characters: Nur Amira, Tengku Faizal, Julia and Tengku Amirul.

On his mother's deathbed, Tengku Faizal agreed to an arranged marriage set up by his mother and her best friend, Nur Amira's mother. Amira, who just recently graduated agreed to the marriage after being persuaded by her mother and after saw Faizal's photo. Love at first sight? Maybe.

In agreeing to this marriage, Faizal broke off with his gf, Julia. Julia, who was frustrated, went away and Faizal was devastated. From that moment on, he installed himself to hate Amira and on their wedding night, he even told Amira the truth of his feeling *awwww... so cruel*

Amira, who knew that she made the right decision (to the arranged marriage) promised to herself that she would try to win Faizal's heart. While Faizal was in dilemma due to his late mother's will - half of Faizal's family wealth would go to Amira once they are married but if Faizal decided to marry other (polygamy), he would lose all his wealth to Amira except for his company and he would lose everything if he decided to divorce Amira.

Then entered Tengku Amirul, Faizal's cousin and Amira's ex-schoolmate, who once confessed his love to Amira. While Faizal tried to win Julia over, Amirul tried to win Amira. Complicated...

For his undying love to Julia, Faizal created a lie. He told Julia that he's going to divorce Amira hence he and Julia got back together. Julia even stayed at Faizal's home (with Amira) while Faizal was looking for a house for Julia and he told her that Amira is his cousin.

What would happen to this kind of relationship/marriage? Nothing good, I tell you...

After Amira told Amirul that she couldn't love other, Amirul back off - reluctantly. Faizal decided to marry Julia but intend to keep Amira too. But after his uncle and aunt's persuasion to ask him to let Amira free (coz they love Amira so much), Faizal got no choice but to divorce Amira once he married Julia.

What happened next? Oh... you gotta read it for yourself. To know what would happen next was what kept me reading until 2 am!

But of course, fictions like these always end with happy ending ;)

I gave this 7 out of 10!

Tak Secantik Husna - Ainul Hazrah

Thursday, October 21, 2010

Title: Tak Secantik Husna
Author: Ainul Hazrah
No. of Pages: 488 pages
Publisher: Alaf 21 Sdn Bhd

I had been reading some Malay novels lately (and before this novel) but I haven't got the chance to post their reviews just yet so I will go ahead with my latest read.

Luqman Hariez was asked to choose one out of seven from the Mak Tok's granddaughter to be his wife. Wow! Can you readers imagine? You gotta choose 1 from 7? I couldn't even choose 1 out of 3 men if you ask me...

Anyway, Luqman Hariez was given 6 pictures of the granddaughters. Where is the 7th? Mak Tok asked him to just ignore the 7th granddaughter so Hariez thought she was retartded. From the pictures, the eldest and Mak Tok's favourite granddaughter captured his eyes - Husna who is almost perfect. Then entered the 7th granddaughter, Tija, the granddaughter that Mak Tok hated but who managed to capture Hariez's attention and time.

When the time came for Hariez to make the decision and pick his bride-to-be, it proved not to be easy. He choose Tija over Husna which fueled Mak Tok's anger and hatred to Tija. Mak Tok influenced Husna to 'take' Hariez from Tija and from there, it's the battle of the 2 cousins. Love triangle? More or less between a man and 2 cousins... Yikes! It sure to be messy.

What happened next?
Does it worth the read? YES!

Haven't read anything from Ainul Hazrah before but gotta be honest, this book is definitly worth it ;)

I gave it 8 out of 10!

"Mini Cooper"

It's been quiet a while (too) I didn't post any jokes (adapted from The Office Inbox Joke Book), so here I go again... considering that I got some free time ;)

This guy went to work without realising he did not zip his trousers.

His secretary noticed and said to him, "You didn't close the garage."

The guy did not understand so he went to call his wife and asked if the garage door was closed. His wife said, "Of course honey, the garage door is closed."

The guy went to his secretary and told her that his wife said the garage door is closed. The lady realised that he did not understand her, so she moved a little closer and said, "I mean you did not zip your trousers." The guy said, "OK," and went to his office and zipped his trousers.

When he came back he asked his secretary, "When the garage was open, did you see my Mercedes Benz?"

The lady answered, "No, only a Mini Cooper with two flat tyres."

Desires of a Perfect Lady - Victoria Alexander

No. of Pages: 376 pages
Publisher: Avon Books / Harper Collins

It's been quiet a while I didn't post any book reviews of the books and novels I had read and I rarely posted any reviews on English novels. Why? I also have no solid idea... hehe. But I'm trying to start now.. but slowly.

I bought this book early this month and although my reading was quiet slow but I manage to finish it.

10 years ago, Sterling - who would be the future Earl of Wyldewood - expected to marry his sweetheart, Olivia. But Olivia's father had something else planned on his mind. He forced Olivia to marry Viscount Rathbourne and told Sterling that Olivia decided to marry other.

Olivia, who was scared to marry Rathbourne, known for his reputations, sent letters and letters to Sterling, asking for his help in escaping the marriage. Sterling who was frustrated, ignored her letters... unopened. And when no help came, Olivia assumed that she couldn't depend on anyone apart from herself.

10 years later, Rathbourne die and in order for Olivia to inherit what's left of Rathbourne's money and assets, she must fulfill and complete Rathbourne's will, which involved searching and acquiring sought after antiques. With no funds and unsuccessful attempts to kill her, Olivia got no one to turn to - except to Sterling, the Earl of Wyldewood.

Together, they traveled to Paris, Egypt, Venice and back to London. Along the way, they tried to confront each other with what happened 10 years ago.

Would the misunderstanding can finally be unwind? And could they trust each other in this quest to fulfilled the Rathbourne's will and 'free' Olivia from the life she hated for the last 10 years?

Covert Affairs - The New ALIAS?

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

I know it's not fair to compare any spy TV series with ALIAS (coz as for me, nothing beats ALIAS) but I couldn't help but to like this new TV series - Covert Affairs. Maybe I miss spy series too much... LOL!

Anyway, currently I'm watching the Covert Affairs Season 1 and so far, it's good. I think I will just leave it at that ;)

I give it 7 out of 10... so far!

Shopaholic Addict!

For an avid reader, Sophie Kinsella is no stranger to me ;)
I have almost (all) of her novels under Sophie Kinsella but unfortunately I haven't got any of her novels written under the name Madeleine Wickham.

Apart from Twenties Girl, I collected and read all her books :)

Last Sunday, I went to the neighbouring country, Miri and I managed to get her latest Shopaholic series - Mini Shopaholic! Yeay!

I haven't manage to start reading it yet but I'm sure it's gonna be as awesome as the rest!

Now, I am also a shopaholic - both in buying her novels and among other things... LOL!

Oh! Not that dream again!

I'm not usually afraid of bad dreams aka nightmares.
For me dreams are just fragments of my imaginations or as I like to call it 'unfinished business' (what's left out) during my waking hours.

But if the dreams involved the things I hate the most, say, a snake, yikes!
I wouldn't call it a nightmare but I also dunno what to call it.
I don't like dreaming about snakes. In this particular dream, the snake is even in pink!
PINK? Gosh! My dream definitly a feminine dream.. LOL!

"Count Your Blessing"

Monday, October 11, 2010

Oh! I'm saying this to myself over and over again eversince I heard a motivational talk few days back. Me? Motivational talk? Of course! I love to read, listen and attend any motivational books or talks when ever I got the chance.

And "Count Your Blessing" is the topic of this week.

If you have been following my blog and read all (or almost) of my nonsense entries, you might notice that in some posts, I always complaint about some things or other - well, mainly about work! LOL! Yup! Complaints, complaints, complaints! Dissatisfactions, dissatisfactions and more dissatisfactions!

But then, I'm just a normal human...
Which normal human who doesn't complain?

But, when you think about it and when I think about it,
I am being blessed in so many ways that I just don't realise until recently.
Oh, I do realise most of them but then there are much more stuffs and things that I'm being blessed with...

I might not be 100% happy with my job, but at least I got a job, right?
I got a job that can allow me to feed myself and my family, bought my own car and pay my own bills.
Imagine those people who don't have a job? How can they feed and support their family?

I have a loving family. True, no family is perfect and my family is one of those imperfect ones. But we are here for each other, loving, supporting and helping each other - always!
Imagine those who don't have any family? I can't imagine living alone in this world...

So, from now on, I would complaint less (hopefully!) and I would make it a habit of mine to be grateful for whatever that may come my ways...
Besides good things always come in disguise ;)

"Count your blessings,
not your problems"

No Longer Available...

...when he got engaged, I was like, "Oh, ok" - carelessly
and couldn't be bothered much that he is getting married.

But now that he is married, I was like, "What? They are serious!" LOL!

I always fancy Dato Dr Sheikh Muszaphar - Malaysian first angkasawan and for me, he is (was) one of Malaysia's most eligible bachelor. I used to have a great crush on him - still has I think! LOL!

But now, he is married!
Congratulations!
May you both live happily ever after....

Winning ain't everything

Wednesday, October 6, 2010
Life is about winning
but not everything you can win.

In Brunei, I noticed that people tend to compete with each other, may it be friendly rivalry, betting rivalry or damned too serious rivalry. I guess Bruneians have a very strong feeling of competitiveness. LOL!

What we compete about? Almost everything, I shall say.

Are you brilliant? Are you genius?
Do you have good grades?
Do you have a degree (undergraduate)?
Do you have a master (postgraduate)? (coz everyone got a degree nowdays)
Do you have a good, highly paid job?
Do you have a good-looking, wealthy boy/girl friend or husband/wife?
What car you drive?
What car your boy/girlfriend or husband/wife drives?
Do you have your own home? (coz if you have your own home, it shows you can AFFORD to have your own home)
How many kids do you have?
bla bla bla...

Then nowdays, the trend is more gadjetic, if there is such a word.
Do you have a laptop? (coz everyone gotta have at least 1 laptop)
Which brand? (if you have an iPad, wow! that would be impressive)
What mobile phone you using? Is it touch screen or using QWERTY keypads? (if none of those 2, then you are outdated - like I am!)
What camera you using? Digital = "oh ok"; DSLR = "wow" (a small digital camera won't compete with DSLR!)
What TV you have at home? LCD screen? HD? Home theater?
What DVD player you have? Blu-Ray?

Gosh! Sometimes it's just so unbelievable how people would go to make sure that they are winning in all these.
It just so pathetic.
I'm not saying that I don't feel any envy when people flaunt what they have infront of my eyes - intentionally or unintentionally. I do! Before today, I might be tempted to level myself up with all these people but when I think about it, what's the use?

Sure, you will get satisfaction when people say, "WOW!" in your face but to what extend? One time, you might be the first to get all the new stuffs but when one time, you are left behind, what you gonna do? Catch up?

Something to share ;)

Google

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Google - one of the most leading web search engine ever. And you would be surprised what people all over the world type in the search engine.

And have you ever google someone? Come on! Let's be honest here. Have you? Me? I do! I do it all the time - I googled someone but I never ever google myself. Why? Coz I'm not that vain... LOL! Nah, coz I don't want to know why my name is there in the first place.

And is it really helpful? Googling, I mean. Sometimes, yea but with so many sites, it's kindda confusing and most of the time, it's just wasting your time.

But will you get what you want? Sometimes too. Most of the time, I will get some infos on what I'm googling for so yea, I get what I want.

Whoever I had googled before? Hah! I'm not gonna tell... =P

Yup!
International sensation, Maher Zain is here in Brunei!

He is here for the meet and greet the fans session.
Unfortunately, I'm not the type who fancy 'crowded' places.
Concert, yes but just waiting for long hours just to meet, nah, that's not me.

Oh, I guess I'm not a die-hard fan of Maher Zain yet BUT I do LOVE all his songs ;)

Addictive

Friday, October 1, 2010
Me and books are inseparable. Yup! You can call me whatever you want - geek, bookworm, whatever - and I don't care coz in the end, I'm happy! =D

It's been quiet a while I didn't pop into the bookstore (mainly coz I had some unread books available) but today, I decided to buy A NEW NOVEL. I limited myself to a novel only coz I'm trying to save some money (hehe!) and not to overspend too much on books and novels.

So there I was, roaming thru the racks and rows of books and when I came out 45 minutes later (coz I can't decide which one to buy), this is the result:

Victoria Alexander's The Perfect Wife and Desire of a Perfect Lady
and Dorothy Howell's Shoulder Bags and Shooting

Oh! I love historical romance novels! Never get bored with these stories and I'm starting to collect the Little Black Dress (LBD) novels.

My first LBD would be the Singletini which I started to buy while I was staying in Singapore and eversince then, I collect as many that interest me.

But Dorothy Howell would always be my favourite author from this LBD novels and up till today, I got 3 of them - Handbags and Homicide, Purses and Poison and the latest would be Shoulder Bags and Shooting. Never missed a novel.

What so great about her novels? Shopaholic and crime - it's a bad combination but she makes it so hilarious that I enjoyed reading this series. If you are a shopaholic (like me!), this is a fun read.
