Memoirs of Eid

Sunday, November 25, 2012
An overdue post but then it's better than nothing, right?
Here it goes..
It's our turn to host the "makan raya" for this year, so I only managed to capture few pictures

... the siblings (minus Adi who was visting the in-laws)...

... dad with all his granddaughters...

... with the cheeky Cha Cha...

Only a week into the Eid that I managed to go to few friends' places..

... first Eid with Wazif and the only way to lure him to other people (apart from his mum, grandma and dad) is by bribing him with books...

... with my oldest BF. Could you believe it that we haven't meet each other for (like!) 5 years when in fact, we live 15 minutes from each other...

Eid is always a good time to meet and catch up with old and new friends.
Hope to see more of my friends in the next Eids.

p.s no picture of me and fiance this Eid as he was working. Of course I'm a bit sad that we didn't be able to celebrate Eid together as this would be our first Eid since we got engaged but then I accepted it long ago that, with his job, there are some things we won't be able to celebrate together. But he always make it up whenever he's home =D

The bright calm blue sea!

Saturday, November 24, 2012

I always love the sea.
For me the sea (and oceans of course) are very unpredictable.
But whenever my fiance is working (like starting yesterday), sometimes sea can be my greatest fear for he is out there.
The picture was sent to me by my fiance, knowing how much I love the sea and ocean...

Updates to update

Friday, November 23, 2012
... if you get what I meant.

Been an inactive blogger for the last few months, I have few updates to blog about.
Well, the first and foremost important 1 would be my engagement!
Yup! If you haven't guess it just yet, I'm officially engaged but I'm gonna hold the juicy details for now.
Why? Because I left my hard drive at home and I have no pictures to show you guys off.. LOL!
So be patience readers.

Then there is the Eid Mubarak.
Gosh! That was ages ago but as I said, I have some stuffs to update.

Now, what else?
I'm trying to recall what else to update you guys with.

Oh yea, followed the engagement, comes the wedding.
We set a date already but I'm not gonna reveal it here just yet. After the FINAL confirmation, then I would announce it.. LOL!
But we are already starting to make preparations.
My preparations? Let's see, I bought bridal magz... lots of it. Initially I just want to get an idea on where to start and what to start with especially on the bridal gowns. But now with so many bridal magz laying around, I'm starting to get confused ^_^
Could you believe it?
Fewh!

And my checklist.
Now let's not start on that.
*taking a deep breath*
Everytime I'm thinking about my impending nuptial, I got palpations.
Nervous? Jitters?
Too early for all those, I think.

First on my checklist = lose weight!!

Wish me luck guys!

Story of my short getaway

I miss blogging.
Ok, let me rephrase that.. I miss update my blog.
Been a long time I properly update my blog and somehow it makes me more like a quiet person (haha! yea right).

So, what's up with me lately?
Let's see...
As usual, been buzy with work. Work, work and the never ending work.
I come in early and go home late but still the work never lessen. I wonder why?

But with work, there is also pleasure.. khehe.. wow! never thought that sounds kinky.
During the 3-day Eid Adha holiday, me and my fiance went for a short trip to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and met up with my family there.

Now, it was to be a simple getaway; get in a plane, dad fetched from the airport and shop, shop, shop and more shopping till we either drop dead tired or broke!

But it was not that smooth. Our 25-minute flight from Brunei-KKIA was delayed for 5-freaking hours! In total, we were in the boarding area for 7 hours! Delayed was caused by the closure of KKIA due to "power failure". We ended up arriving at KKIA around 11pm! What's worst, we were in the same flight with an entourage of chinese tourists who talked non-stop and loud. So loud that the KKIA immigration officers had to order them to be quiet.

With all the shopping complexes closed when we arrived, we settled for McD takeaway. Ate our supper and sleep.

The next day, me, my fiance and brothers went for a swim (we rented an apartment with swimming pool). It was cold but suprisingly refreshing. An hour in the pool, we went up to the apartment, take a proper bath (not together of course!), got dressed and let's go shopping!

Our 1st stop would be breakfast. Then we start hitting the shopping complexes in 1Borneo; proceed to Suria Sabah, The Centerpoint and Warisan Square. By the time we came back to the apartment, it was time for dinner. We went for seafood (as my dad and fiance are a huge fans of seafood). When we were done, all the shopping malls are closed so it's back to the apartment.

But you think that we would just stop at that? Of course not! With pains on both legs, we walked from the apartment to the Warisan Square again (just opposite of the apartment) for a good hour of reflexology! Now, I'm very ticklish so I would avoid anyone touching any part of my body (seriously!) without any solid reason. But when you walk like I walk and you shop like I shop, man... you don't care who touch your feet as long as it's soothing! That day, I trully understand what it meant, "shop till you drop" coz when we came home, we were fast asleep.

Woke up early the next morning coz dad would be sending us to the airport. Our flight was in the morning and just to makesure we get the front seats, I did online checkin the night before and wah! we were seated on the 3rd row... away from those (loud) chinese entourage! Yay! Considering that all our stuffs were in my dad's car, we were the first to walk out of the arrival hall with nothing to declare. As my brother, Andy said (who fetched us from the airport), "You guys look like a couple going to the mall."

It was hectic, of course but it was fun!
It was my first getaway trip with my fiance and I enjoyed it wayyy too much; which is a good thing, right coz to really know a person, you have to travel with them.

Our next holiday... soon! =D

Happy Birth-Day...

Monday, October 22, 2012
Ah!
Another age...
Am I getting wiser?
*thinking*
*still thinking*
*and still thinking*

Oh well... it's just a number.. LOL

I had a breakfast with my parents on my birthday. Love them so very much.
And my ex-boyfriend (LOL!) treated me to a birthday dinner in one of the hotels in the capital =)

Here we go... again!!

Wednesday, October 17, 2012
Just a week to go before I celebrate my birthday and less than 2 weeks before my short get-away trip,
I'm down with a flu again.. or so I thought.

Couldn't handle the headaches, runny nose, chesty cough and watery eyes,
I finally (fewwhh!) seek the doctor's advice.
The doctor dignosed me with a severe sinusitis and being a very good doctor, he even sketch a diagram of my nose and made it nicer.. LOL!

But this diagram is not what he sketch. Trust me, doctors aren't good as artists.
But the idea of what he's trying to explain to me was the same.

Basically I had excess mucus and he listed all the things and stuffs I should avoided in order to 'heal' my allergies... which is almost like everything in my surroundings!!
Remember I once posted an entry where my sinus will definitly kill me....one day.. it might just happened..

Oh well... I can't stay in a sterile environment all my life. It would be dead boring.. haha but the other option is more or less the same..

Currently, I'm still stuck with my excess mucus; my fever on and off and headaches, gosh, let's not dwell into that.
But...
Mama's love is very unconditional.
At my age, my mummy still nurse me... yup! She sponge bath me (seriously!); she cooked me porridge when my throat can't take solid food; she changed and launder my bedsheets, my comforter and my towels; she massaged my throbbing head; she hold me hands when I'm too weak to walk and put me in bed and Alhamdulillah, with my mummy's unconditional love and attention, I'm slowly back to my normal health...
Love you Mummy...
And my Daddy... who kept on nagging, asking me to see the doctor and take Adem Sari..
Love you both!
And... definitly not forgetting my ex-boyfriend ;)
Who managed to drag me out of bed on Sunday and brought me to the clinic; bought porridge and soups for my painful throat and for keeping me company the following day..
Love you too!

Wednesday, October 10, 2012
Couldn't believe how long it took me to continue the entry on my brother, Adi's big day!
But here it is (finally!)

Considering the bride's home is in the neighboring country, our reception started early.
But I gotta salute my mum's side of the family (they are chinese) and they came an hour early before the reception!!

But insyaAllah, I would be back to the blogging scene soon and gosh! don't I just have lots catching up to do...

May Birthdays....

Wow! Been a while I didn't update my blog. Sorry for the slow updates. I had been busy for the last few weeks with weddings, birthdays hence no updates.

I realised that I update less on the personal stuffs and more on the book reviews lately so now, I'm holding back my book review first and do some personal updates.

We celebrated 3 birthdays last Mei - my mom's and 2 of my nieces'; Batrisya Adawiyah's 9th and Basirah Adawiyah's 1st.

Mom; she is not a big fan of cakes so we didn't give her any.. booo... but we treated her to a fab breakfast. It was a double celebration for her too as her birthday fell the same day as Mothers' Day...

For Batrisya, we just made a simple and small celebration as her birthday fell on the eve of brother Adi's solemnization day, so things were kindda hectic.

Once I made a scrapboard for my bff and Batrisya liked it. I decided to make her one for her birthday and I made this in just 20 minutes... well, provided the materials are there. Not bad for a begineer ya.. hehe

For her little sister, Basirah's 1st birthday, it was Armed Forced Day and it was public holiday but I was working.. booohoo. I made use of my 2-hour break, came home and was there to see Basirah celebrated her 1st birthday... very cheeky girl...

Seeing her 3 brothers were married off by their parents' choice, Sarah Humaira decided long time ago that she won't be getting married anytime soon, especially not by her parents' choice of groom and the only way to do that was to further studies till she got her doctorate.

But when her parents found out that she would be continuing her studies to the US, her mom objected and she did what Sarah Humaira swore not to do - marry her off. Her parents gave her a choice; be married or they won't allow her to continue her studies. Sarah finally gave in but when she knew that her husband was the person she hated the most, she left him - she went to US while her husband got posted to the UK. They were separated for 5 years!

Coming back with phd, Sarah couldn't get a job as a lecturer so she grabed the first job offer she got as an engineer working under Haris Safwan. Before they even worked together, they had arguments. Don't know why Haris Safwan liked to irritate Sarah Humaira and Sarah Humaira disliked Haris Safwan the first moment she laid eyes on him.

5 years hadn't change Sarah Humaira, his wife as Haris Safwan would say. But Haris Safwan had changed a lot. From a skinny lad, now he was a tough guy; he braced his teeth to make them even and with his karisma and aura, his smiles made ladies melt. He tranformed a lot that even his own wife couldn't recognise him!

Eventhough she hadn't see nor talk to his husband for 5 years, Sarah Humaira still think herself as a married woman and she always distance herself from men, the main reason she could only accept Kamal Ikhwan as a friend. As the day passed, she was feeling more guilty to her husband and it led her to look for her husband. But where to find him? She didn't even know his name! The only thing she knew was that he was in UK.

A work trip with Haris Safwan changed everything. Sarah was feeling all the things she wasn't suppose to be feeling - for Haris Safwan. She was a married woman, for God's sake and she told Haris Safwan the truth - about her marriage, husband and her guilt. Haris who was waiting for that moment thought this would be the perfect time to reveal himself. Haris went home to Sarah's parents' home and with her parents' persuassion, Sarah came home at the same time.

When she finally found out Haris was her own husband, Sarah was more than willing to make up for the lost time. And they were happy. But then nothing as easy as it sound. Before reaching the "...happily ever after...", they were tested with so much. Could their love for each other stand? ;)

Novel Review: Isteri Separuh Masa

Isteri Separuh Masa
by Suri Ryana
551 pages
Kaki Novel Enterprise
Isteri Separuh Masa is the author's second novel after M.A.I.D (which I read back exactly a year ago). I don't remember doing a novel review for her first novel but I do remember I like it LOL! Hence I didn't hestitate to buy her second 'baby' - Isteri Separuh Masa.

Medina Izwani was adopted when she was 6 years old by Nazrin Shah's parents. She was treated like their own daughter and a sister by Nazrin until 1 day, Medina clamied that she saw Zita (Nazrin's soon to be fiance at that time) having an affair with another man. Nazrin's parents and grandma were furious and the engagement was cancelled. Nazrin was devastated and he blamed Medina for what happened.

From that day onwards, Nazrin somehow had cast Medina as an outsider. For him, she was no longer the beloved sister she once to be. Whenever they met, verbal fights were always there. Just before Nazrin left to the UK to continue his studies, his parents and grandma decided to marry him off - to Medina! Both strongly disagree obviously! Medina who was having "cinta monyet" with Megat Shazril at that time wanted to fulfill her dreams to study in Ireland with Megat Shazril before marriage.

But for their love to their grandma, who was fallen ill due to their rejections, Nazrin and Medina finally agreed. Soon after their marriage, Nazrin left for UK and the husband and wife only met few times.

4 years later, Medina who was an undergraduate student was shocked to meet his adopted brother aka her husband in the uni's parking lot and more suprisingly, Nazrin was her tutor!! It was getting complicated when Medina had to move in with her husband when their family decided to visit and stay with them for a while.

When 2 people who had known each other for almost their lives; no matter how one hated the another but if you placed them in a room for a longer period of time, they would eventually make up for the sake of memories... sweet memories.
Medina admitted that she had fallen in love with her husband but afraid to say so eventho she noticed that Nazrin had changed, day by day. But when Zita came back into Nazrin's life and demanded that he divorced Medina, Medina had no choice but to confront them and told Zita that Nazrin was not "her type of guy". Nazrin, who realised that he loved Medina was crushed when he heard those words from Medina. Few misunderstandings there, few misunderstandings here, they finally made up... of course... but... life ain't that easy as it seems.

Zafril, who admitted that he liked Medina was frustrated when Medina didn't show any interest in him. So he used Niza, Medina's roommate in uni to know what's happening in Medina's life. Obsession? More to payback, I shall say.
What's the connection between Medina, Zafril, Megat Shazril and Niza? Well, read it to find out... khehe

My rating: 7/10
