Loving OCTOBER!! =D

Sunday, October 9, 2011
Who doesn't love October??
I am positively, passionately in love with October
It's my birth-month after all and yesterday, it was another joyful event in the folders of my life and my BFF, Didz's life and her hubby, of course =D

On October 8, my BFF gave birth to her first baby!! YeaYYY!!
A boy, weight 2.52kg at 0915.
And gosh!!! he is sooo adorable!
Luckily Baby Wazif is my BFF's baby, if it is to be my baby, I think I would squeeze him..
... way too much!! LOL!

Sorry I didn't have any picture of Baby Wazif coz he was full after being fed that I don't have the heart to disturb his peace LOL!

Now, both mummy and baby are safely back at home.
Wishing my BFF a speedy recovery and enjoy the parenthood m8!
So, when is the next one? *HUGE grin* haha!

Next, what's else to love about October?
Hmmm.. let's see.
My BF (ehem! ehem!) is currently onleave hence I'm spending more time with him hence less blogging haha!
Ohhh.. give me the chance, I mean, once he started back to work, I would only see him rarely... very rare, I must say...
... so, why not make use of the valuable time, right? *wink*wink*
Our mode of communications once he's back to work would be the nets, emails, satellite phones, webcam and text messages..

Oh! my birthday coming up soon and on the same day, my cousin (from my maternal side) is converting to Muslim =D
What a very bless-full day to celebrate my 30th birthday =D
gosh! can't believe I'm attending the "3-series" soon but hey,
age is just a number, right?
What matters the most is how you live our life...

I'm lovin' OCTOBER!
Hope you guys too!!
Cheers~~~~

Oohh Johnny...

Saturday, September 17, 2011
I always love spy movies, James Bond included
and when Johnny English came out, it was listed in one of my favorite movies.

Went out and watched Johnny English Reborn last Thursday night.

Three words:
IT WAS HILARIOUS!

Who says the sequel ain't as good as the first one?
This movie proves you wrong!
It was 5 times better than the 1st!

From novels to movies..

Tuesday, September 13, 2011
What happened to someone like me who is fascinated reading novels and movies and one is being adapted to another??

Oh!
I LIKE!!
Especially if the novels are my favorites.

And the hero is one of my favorite Malay actors??
I LIKE!!
Make that TRIPLE LIKES! LOL!

What nonsense I'm talking about?
I just found out that (boo-ed me for being not up-to-date) that Fauziah Ashari's Ombak Rindu is coming out soon in film! Yes! I might be so far behind in knowing this but hey, it's better late than never right? Right?

Fauziah Ashari , I would consider as one of my leading inspirations for me to read Malay novels.
Why?
My passion for reading started with English novels and I have to say before Aisya Sofea and Fauziah Ashari, I haven't touch or read any Malay novel.
One day, back in 2001, after addicted to Aisya Sofea's Jauh, I was browsing the book shelves and found Fauziah Ashari's Pergilah Sepi - her 1st novel and ever since then, I haven't miss any of her novels.
It was that addictive and I'm hooked!

Ombak Rindu is definitely one of the best Malay novels I had ever read and I loved the characters.

And I would love it even more when the film comes out end of this year.
Why?
Hero character, Hariz (in the movie) would be played by Aaron Aziz... ahhh! My very own hero
=D

Definitely a must-watch movie for me!!!

But I kindda disagree with the production choice of heroin.
Well, no offence but I think Maya Karin is not Izzah (the heroin character in the novel) in my eyes.
Oh well!

And speaking of novels turned to movies, I also found out that there are 7 Alaf 21 novels would be made into movies and series - all are my favorite Malay novels!
Click on the link here

Looks like I would be waiting for all these movies... soon, I hope!

Eid Rituals

Saturday, September 10, 2011
Ahhh *relaxing with my feets up*

Finally, it's the 11 Syawal and I can now properly continue blogging. How's my Eid, you may ask (or may not.. LOL)? So far, it was okay, quiet I shall say. I had a buzy Sunday tho' but now the festivity is simmering down.

I realised that all the years I had been blooging, I never actually explain or describe how we celebrate Eid here in Brunei. Well, this year, I'm gonna spill all the peas. I'm sharing what Bruneians Eid 'rituals' are and some of my own family 'rituals'.

1. A month before Eid
- Furniture businesses are booming very quickly with discounts! And Bruneians like to splurge (and showing off) new furnitures at least once a year on Eid.

2. A week before Eid
- Everywhere is packed! Especially if the salary is out. One good thing about our government is that salary is out earlier than usual to help the people prepare for the upcoming festivity. Hence, with extra money, every shopping complexs, supermarkets - big or small are totally jammed packed and the roads... fewhhh, if you don't have the patience, don't drive! That's all I can say. People are rushing everywhere to get their stuffs and businesses done before the Eid holidays.
- Fireworks everywhere! Some are pleasant and entertaining but some are just plain annoying... especially if it goes on till the late hours in the evening when everyone is in bed.

3. A day before Eid
- The famous and most sought after place are the fuel stations! Yup!! You would see long que of cars for miles (I kid you not!) just for drivers to top up their fuel tanks at EVERY fuel stations in Brunei. I still don't get this 'ritual'. I mean, it's not like the fuel stations won't open the whole Eid holidays. Yes, there are some fuel stations that close for 2 days, but it's so rare. I know 1 fuel station opens on the first day of Eid, mainly coz the fillers are non-muslims and as far as I observed, most fuel stations open for business on the second day of Eid.

4. Eid's eve
- For my family, we would only be buzy 'beautifying' our home on the Eid's eve. The ground floor is our main proriarity - 2 living rooms, dining room, guest toilet. These are the places we need to re-arrange the furnitures and trust me, it's easy when you have 3 masculine brothers to help you around LOL! Oh and on Eid's eve, you won't be able to sleep early. The earliest you can go to sleep is at midnight.
- Even more fireworks continue....

5. Eid's morning
- Woke up, take a bath with niat, dress in your new attire, off to the mosque for Sunat Aidilfitri prayer.
- Came back and wait for the whole family to gather. Salam and seek forgivness from the parents and the elders and in the process, green packets (with money in it) exchanges between hands =) For me and my family, we would wait for my eldest brother and his family to come then we would salam and seek forgivness from our parents. Oh! Family photo! It's a compulsory for every Eid. Eventhough it's just a normal home photo (not in some fancy studio), it's more than enough for us!
- For most Bruneians, the cemetries are the first pitstop after prayer. To pay our respects to the dead and how you wish they can celebrate the Eid with the family again. But who are we to defy God? For me and my family, we are going to the cemetry every Friday, hence our next pitstop would be my aunt's home. It's where my grandma stays and this year, it's my aunt turns to host the 'makan raya' or 'eid gathering'. At my aunt's place, it where all my dad's other 8 siblings and family gathered. It was so packed and noisy, of course! But it was fun!!

6. Eid's afternoon/night
- still at aunt's place... and move around to aunts' and uncles' homes. The main rituals for 1st day of Eid is to visit all the uncles and the aunts and the elders. By the time you came home, you would be drop dead tired but a tummy overload with food!

7. Visting
- Eid is when you forget all the past and try (very hard) to forgive others.. no matter what. It's an islamic month of forgiving after all. Relatives, friends and enemies visit each other, going from one house to another and you receive almost everyone into your home... who dress decently, of course! LOL!

8. Fashion show!
- LOL! I shouldn't call it that. But I couldn't help it! Eid is also when almost all the ladies would dress to impress! Fewwhh.. you would be amazed on how Bruneian ladies dress during Eid. To be honest, some look like christmas trees with all the decorations and 'lights'. Me? Nah! I'm just a simple lady with a sensible sense of fashion LOL!

9. Green packets
- It's not compulsory but somehow it's part of the 'rituals'. If chinese is using red packets, Muslim is using green packet. It is filled with either $1, $2, $3, $5 or $10. The most common notes are $1 and $2. Rarely give more than that. The purpose of green packet is to 'sedekah' or contribute with a sincere heart not to show off who (and which house) gives the highest green packet. And yes, there is an age limit to receive the green packet. I'm not exactly sure what's the age limit but if the host knows you are working, you are definitely won't receive any. If you are married, no way you would get any! LOL! Me? I stopped receiving mine years ago but my parents, they give to every children (except my married eldest brother) and grandchildren every year without miss =) Yes, I still receive mine from my parents. I told them not too but then, hey, who am I to refuse? LOL! And this year my aunt (suprisingly) gave me a green packet containing $10 note just specifically for me *blushing* I wonder why? haha.

10. Meet and greet with the Royal Family
- Oh! If you are a tourist coming to Brunei during Eid, you must not miss this opportunity. It's once in your lifetime, if ever! Starting 2nd Syawal, for 3 days, the Royal Palace - Istana Nurul Iman is open to public, every walk of life, to come to the palace, served with foods, meet and greet with the royal families. I don't mean to be biased but I heard only Brunei Royal Family open their wide palace doors to the public to meet and greet them personally during Eid. I'm proud to be a Bruneian!! But being an islamic country, the events take place at 2 separated halls; men would only be able to meet and greet with HM The Sultan and the Princes while the women would only be able to meet and greet HM The Queen and the Princesses. Honestly, I never been to the palace yet.. oppsss! Haha! I just couldn't stand the waiting and the que-ing and seeing the thousands of people at one time and place.

11. Open houses!
- If you are thinking of dieting during Eid, let me tell you, FORGET IT!! Haha! All your diet would be gone with open houses! Food! Food! Food! everywhere! Most houses nowadays have the open house concept. They set a date for all the friends and colleagues to come and fed them with foods! Oh, nevermind, you can go for your usual diet and exercise after Eid.. LOL!

12. Your friends list is increasing
- I don't know about the rest of you but I do! Every year! An example; 2 years ago, a friend come to my house with his friend and after that, the 3 of us become close friends. Last year, my 2 close friends brought 2 of their colleagues to my house and now, those additional 2 are my good friends. See? Eid does bring people together - in friendship and probably relationship ;) This year, 2 of them come with their girlfriends and we get along just fine.. now, I have friends from all walk of life... interesting =) Or if you go to a friend's open house, you would meet your friend's friend and you would be surprise how everything ends up! Messy but it was fun untangling them.. LOL

13. Roll cakes and biscuits
- Yummy! Eid is filled with all those yummy-licious cakes and biscuits. Bakers are getting competitive to be ahead with their products. But sometimes I wonder, where are they go once Syawal ends? I remembered craving for a type of biscuits before and couldn't get any. Now, I'm just enjoying it while it lasts.

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri Everyone!
Maaf Zahir dan Batin!
I hope we will meet again next Syawal, InsyaAllah

After being postponed so many many times, at last after a year and a half later, we finally had our CPSS lunch.

Scattered to 9 health centers, me and my colleagues gathered one Sunday for lunch.
But unfortunately, not all can manage to come.
Nevertheless, we had fun!
I stayed for almost 2.5 hours and you can imagine how many times I made trips to the buffet table.. haha!

7 Hari Mencintaiku - Siti Rosmizah

Thursday, June 30, 2011

Title: 7 Hari Mencintaiku
Author: Siti Rosmizah
No. of pages: 1048 pages
Publisher: SR Publications

After Andai Itu TakdirNya, Cinta Kau dan Aku and Lafazkan Kalimah Cintamu, the no.1 fastest best selling author (in my opinion, anyway), Siti Rosmizah is back with her 4th novel, 7 Hari Mencintaiku.

Why do I say she is the fastest? Cos with 2 novels in the market, her 3rd novel comes out from her own publication company - SR Publications! Wow! She must be making lots. But can't deny it, for a romantic person like me, myself and I, I have to salute her! She makes the best novel ever!

And I would like to thank my 2 MALE friends, Jace - for recommending Siti Rosmizah's first novel to me and to Memen - for giving me Siti Rosmizah's first novel as a gift =P Trust me, those 2 guys have a good taste in books LOL! Now, I'm hooked to Siti Rosmizah!

Mia Adriana and Khuzairi are 2 people coming from 2 different worlds. Mia is to be considered the most hatred person in the world while Khuzairi is the most beloved person ever. Mia is spoilt, selfish and would only think about herself while Khuzairi is much loved and would sacrifice everything for those he loves. I would say Khuzairi is every woman's dream of a man (if such a man ever exists).

And what happened if these 2 different worlds collide? On her nikah's night, Mia was left by her fiance (due to money matters) and left her no choice but to marry her father's choice, Khuzairi as her dad's dying wish. With no love for her husband, Mia treated her husband in the meanest possible ways but as I said, Khuzairi would do anything for the people he loves except letting Mia go.

This is a novel that would tell you how deep a guy loves his mum, no matter it's just his stepmum and loving his wife, Mia. And how he was torn to choose between his stepmum and his wife. And how he sacrificed his money for the love to his half-brother. And how he kept his promise to his father-in-law and stepmum-in-law to honour, love and guide his wife till his dying day.

But does Mia knows what sacrifices her husband had to make to make her happy and loved? Or would the realisation comes too late when Khuzairi couldn't take it anymore?

Definitely a MUST read for both man and woman out there. It might be fictional but there are lessons worth to be learnt.

Dear Diary...

Gosh! Eversince I discover this thingy called blogging, I haven't even write a sentence into a book with printed lines called 'The Diary'.

Raise up your hands if you have/had one - a diary, that is! I do!!! Currently, I got 10 of it, dated back from 1997 and currently ends with 2009. I got few diaries before that but somehow, I remembered, during my 'bad days', I burnt them. Honestly, I regreted burning them so I said to myself, no matter what happened, I would not burn any of my diaries - not by me anyway.

I was religiously writing in my diary since I entered college. Basically just to jot down what's happening in my life everyday and as I grow older (ehem! younger at heart still! LOL!), I write less. I don't know why exactly. Maybe I was just too tired writing - which is funny coz I'm still blogging (duh!) or maybe there is just nothing interesting happening in my life no more - haha! sounds pathetic, I know! Or maybe I just having less feelings nowadays hence less soul expression.

What happened to all my diaries, you might ask?

I keep them under lock and key. LOL! Diaries are meant to be kept a secret hence the security measures. There are times, I opened up the closet and re-read my own enteries.

Why, you might ask again?

For someone who like to read, I like to read what was I thinking back then. I mean, if I was in that situation again, would I take the same decisions or making the same mistakes or do the right thing again?

There are times when I was feeling so low, rock bottom you might say and I say to myself, what made I do what I did? True, by reading your own enteries won't change the history but it reminds you of who you are and what you believe in - which sometimes I forget. Of course, you would also discover all those nasty, stupid mistakes that you wish you can take back but as human, we learnt from our mistakes. Keep on hoping you and I won't the same mistakes again.

But, unfortunately for me, I (sometimes) never learnt from my own mistakes. I kept on making the same mistakes again and again and again and sometimes I wonder, does history repeats itself or am I making the same history all over again?

There are so many stuffs in my diaries that makes me laugh, cry and smile all over the written pages. All those crushes, all those loves, all those heartbreaks! Friends I had discovered, friends I had lost, friends I would never meet again and friends whom never will be a friend no more. All those hatred, jealousy, envy! And look where we all now.....

"The brightest future will always be based in a forgotten past.
You can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches"

Dear Diaries, in you, where all my secrets lie!!

3

To a certain someone...

Loving me may leave your heart like a shattered glass,
but keep in mind that there's someone
who'll be willing to endure the pain of picking up the pieces I had left behind
so that you would be whole again

Wishing you the best in what the life can offer you my friend...
as I said to you before, I still consider you as a good friend

The Pros and Cons of the AE Duty

Monday, May 23, 2011
I just completed another week of my AE (Accident and Emergency) duty.
How do I feel? Oh! Too damned tired! 7 nights non-stop working!

Here's MY pros and cons of the duty.
(Bear in mind, it's just my opinion)

Let's start with the cons:
1. Duty starts at 5pm
By the time everyone is ready to go off from work, I'm getting ready to go to work.
2. Gosh! The weather!!
5 afternoons out of 7 was super hot!
3. Working ALONE!
... for freaking 7 hours (with 30 mins prayer break, super fast dinner break and toilet break).
4. For someone as chatty as I am, I get bored easily with no colleague to talk to.
5. Working alone means you have to do everything yourself and that includes more patience-tolerance (cos there is no one to back you up if you lose your temper).
6. Why do hospital parking lots are so dark, dull and eerie? Furthermore, why do they place the morgue near the parking lot? Getting off at 12 midnight and walking alone to the parking lot makes my imagination running way way way too wild!
7. Disturbed sleeping pattern.
By the time I came home, it's around 12.20am! I had my super late dinner, I had my prayers and with these and that, I slept around 2am!
8. By the time I came home, everyone's asleep... hence dinner alone, all by myself... so boring!

And the pros:
1. I can woke up late! The latest I woke up was 11am! LOL!
2. Less traffic! Cos I'm going opposite direction - everyone going home, I'm going to work.
3. I can get parking easily.
4. By the time I leave the hospital, the roads are super empty and super quiet and it only take me 12 minutes to arrive home.
5. I got 2 days off! Yea!!!

But then as you can see, there are more of the cons than the pros! LOL! So you can summarized whether I like my duty or not!

But I shall be grateful that the duty is only till 12 midnight rather than some ungodly hours! Working alone makes me appreciate more of my colleagues. Don't get me wrong. I am more than capable of working alone but you can't deny that the presence of colleagues would ease up the burden a bit.

And yes, these are the times I wish I have a bf /husband that I could order around to send and fetch me from work. LOL! I mean, which bf/husband would let the gf/wife drive home alone especially after midnights? Right? LOL!
2

Ah... these allergies!!!

Believe me when I say this,
One of these days, my allergies would eventually KILL me!

Yup!
It seems to get worst these days.
I just recovered from a 2-week flu (fever, headaches, sore and itchy throats, coughs... you know the stuffs) a week ago and now, I'm down with it again MINUS the fever and the headaches.
I suspects it must be trigger from my sinus problems that leads to my throat.

You might be wondering why it took me 2 weeks to recover from my flu. No worries, I didn't have any major complications. It's just that I didn't take any medications.
Yup! I get tired of seeing, inhaling all these chemicals, day in and day out that I just didn't take any meds for my flu; not even a single antibiotics.

Now, thinking that my antibodies are lot more stronger (cos of no antibiotics intake), I thought that I wouldn't have any flu.... so soon!
Turn out, I'm wrong!

Oh well, as long as I can still cope without meds,
I think I would be doing just fine.
Don't you think?
