The Most Exhausting Day....Ever!

I declare today is the most exhausting day ever! It's like almost half of the students from 5 surrounding schools came down to the clinic! And that does not include the other patients. I am soooo drop dead tired!!!

Masks, Hand Santitzers and Swine Flu

For a health professional, I still couldn't believe that Brunei had an alarming increase of swine flu cases. As of today, the number had leaped to 120+ cases! 120+?? It might not sound like a big number but for Brunei with the populations of less than 500,000, it quiet...scary! Scary, that's the word I often use to define Swine flu.

Some of the public are now aware of the danger of this flu while some just being ignorance. I thought with free education given to all Bruneians, you thought that we were all clever but we might be proven wrong! I know 1 real case of quarantine family members. There were quarantine for 7 days but before the 7 days were up, they (the whole family) was spotted in the Mall, not wearing any masks!!! To hear this, it's just so plain irresponsible. I mean, okay, you might NOT be infected but you MIGHT be infected. If you are infected, why you want to put other people in the same situation as yours??

I have to salute most of us though. Eventhough they are not sick, they also wear masks just as a precautions. Yesterday I was working. Clinic opens at 2PM and by 2.30PM, 86 patients had registered to see the doctors and by the end of the night, a total of 494 patients had registered. I don't know if you can imagine how buzy and hectic it was but by the end of the shift, I was so drop dead exhausted! As a frontline health professions, we are compulsory to wear the mask. It doesn't protect us 100% from all those air-bourne diseases but to all the patients out there, please do not cough infront of others. I hate when people do that!

Last Saturday afternoon, I was searching for the hand sanitizers for my brothers. Schools are re-open this monday. I was thinking to equip my brothers with masks and hand sanitizers. Not only m a good, lovable sister (hahaha) but I also don't want them to contract anything while at school.

Siblings Day Out

Two weekends ago, it was me and my brothers day out. Mom and dad wanted to stay in and rest hence the 4 of us (minus bro Adi) went out to watch Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen. We were supposed to catch the 10am show at Qlap Cineplex but when we got there around 9.45am, the show was fully paid for (unless we want to sit at the few last bottom rows). Could you believe it? 9.45am? And the cineplex lobby was quiet full. Hence, we took the 11.30am show and we managed to grab the top seats...yay!

To kill the time, I had my breakfast at Express. I don't know. M always craving for the RBC Express lately..hmmm...Anyway, the 11.30am show was packed too and the movie? Hmm...nda payah cakap. I guess everyone likes it. I did too. Nothing beats autobots fighting with each other. My favourite part would be when they dropped the guy in the suit from the plane. It was so hilarious! And man! I love Petra! I always dream of going there.

After movie, we went to eat belated lunch at Taurean Too Kopitiam in Batu Bersurat. Lunch done, we went to DVD surfing..hehe! Came home by 3PM and then I need to get ready for hiking. That's what I called exhausted weekend! No work done, which what it should be =) It's a weekend afterall..

Getting Fit and Dark Again!

With the increasing workload, social activities and so on, I neglected my used to be routine exercise - hiking. So last Saturday, I started again. Thinking about it, I was quiet unenthusiastic considering that I got lots of work pending but due to the constant push and support from my male BFF, so I went again. Last Saturday, we went to Tasek and last Sunday, we went to Shahbandar. 2 days in a row of hiking, that's enough to get me back having muscles cramp and a bit of 'tan' haha!

I had been meaning to do hiking as a daily routine, as it used to be but somehow it's just couldn't be. 1st, there is the weather. It had been raining lately here in Brunei. 2nd, afterwork meetings still going on. I couldn't escape it hence no hiking. 3rd, after long day at work, I'm just too tired to exercise!

Bandar Seri Begawan

Lots of people said that our capital is a lonely town at night and sadly I have to admit it is. I went to capital at night once in a while and it's just so quiet. Apart from hangin' out and do some lil' shopping, there is nothing else to do in the capital at night unlike Kiulap and Gadong.

This morning, I accompanied my mum to the town. She got some stuffs to do and as usual, m the driver. I guess coz we are early, bandar is kindda quiet this morning. The roads are being 'beautify' for the upcoming HM's birthday and infront of the Royal Regalia, Jabatan Bandaran is setting up the tents for the 'perayaan'.

I (or rather my brother) managed to snap few pictures of bandar. One of the pictures is the picture of Kubur Dang Ayang (Dang Ayang's tomb) which is located just beside TAIB and exactly infront of the Taman SOAS. I'm a fanatic in history. It is my favourite subject back while I was studying. But I never heard of Dang Ayang and from what my parents told me, she was a princess. Her father, the Sultan (I dunno which Sultan) wanted to marry her off but she refused hence she was locked in an underground compartment. She died there and being buried at the same place. Is it true?? If anyone out there knows the real histroy, please let me know, m dying to know! If not, oh well, then I have to go to the history centre then. Hehehe...

The Death of the King of Pop

This morning, I was driving my mum doing ome errands and was tuned in 90.7FM Kritsal when I heard that Michael Jackson passed away at the age of 51. Seriously kah tu? I mean, it's quiet a while didn't hear anything about him and to be conveyed such news is so unbelievable to me. This whole morning, Kristal was playing all the Michael Jackson's songs and it is quiet suprising how many people out there know the songs and the lyrics by heart.

Oh well, every life, there is death. Death is a certain thing for each and one of us.

Somehow, m hooked to this song. 20 minutes on my way to work this morning, I played this song over and over again and that same goes with 40 minutes (plus the traffic cause by an accident) on my way home.

White gold ring in a wedding finger

I rarely wear a ring when m working coz in my line of duty, it's kindda hard to keep a ring secure. But today, I wore my white gold ring and I wore it at my wedding finger. Then a regular patient came to the clinic and he said to me, "eh, berseri-seri jua" and me, never take anything serious, just said, " awu, andangnya". I never thought that he misunderstod me. Then his next question surprise me. "Bila majlisnya?" ERK!!! hahaha! He thought that m getting married!!!

Geez! It's kindda hard nowdays to wear a nice white gold ring without someone thought u r attached! Is that y guys gave me the dissapointed look?? Damn! I should ring-less starting tomorrow....ahakZZZ!!!

A couple of weeks back, 2 of my youngest brothers were talking about this video that made them laughing so hard. I ignored them and the video at that time eventhough they kept on insisting that I should watch it. It's not until recently when I was surfing using my brother's laptop that I came across the video. I posted it here. I honestly have no idea whose video is it but whoever did this, it's a work of genius. Enjoy! P.s strictly only for Bruneians who know malay...hehe!

Swine, Swine and more Swine....

Today, we got a verbal order from the upper management for all the staffs of Department of Pharmaceutical Services (and I think all of MoH) not to leave the country. With the increasing number of swine flu cases in Brunei, MoH is now on high alert and extra precautions had been made! As of today, 8 reported cases had been confirmed. As it happened it to be, I know 2 of the patients. May they be strong going thru' all these, InsyaAllah.

For the public out there, please be noted that the Influenza A vaccine does not protect you against Swine flu. Influenza A vaccine which is currently available in Brunei is only to protect you from seasonal flu but NOT for swine flu, bird flu and such. I know everyone is kindda panicking at the moment. Today alone, my dispensary direct line received more than 10 phone calls inquiring about the vaccine. And I'm sorry that neither any of us can help you. The only thing we can help you is to give you the Vaccination Centre phone number and hopefully they can answer any questions you have in mind.

In the meantime, please take extra precautions. Avoid travelling out of the country if you can. And please, go and seek medical treatment if you are unwell. It's good to be 'kiasiu' once in a while. And for parents out there, avoid bringing your children to the clinics/hospitals if they are not sick. Bear in mind that, they COULD be exposed to the danger.

Let's pray for this flu to be over soon, InsyaAllah.

Too Many Things To Do, So Little Time.....

With the short break from the KKC-thingy, at the moment I have a lil' bit of breathing space but somehow I can't breath that well. Few weeks of meetings, meetings and meetings, now I have to catch up with my daily+routine work. And wow, aren't they just keep on piling up?! It's almost coming to the end of the half year and so many reports to do, drug usages to calculate and enter into the database. At the moment, m taking a break from doing my ordering which is quiet urgent coz either I do it now or my dispensary would run out of drugs! Haha! Which would be chaotic with what's happening at the moment!

KKC

I got a new term for KKC. The original phrase would be Kumpulan Kerja Cermerlang but then I think I would refer it as kerja kemudian capek (work then tired) coz that's what I was feeling for the last few weeks. The submission of the final report was last Monday and I was having my seasonal sinusitis. I took a tablespoonful of linctus and by 6PM, I was in lala land....

With the report out of the way, our next agenda would be the close session with the judges somewhere early July and the national competition would be in August. With months of non-stop meetings, I really need a break! NO! I DESERVE a break!

A Wedding - Checked!

Went to Ka Zuby's sis-in-law, Rozi's wedding today with my BFF. She fetched me in her new 'mini copper' =) Have to say, the ride is so pleasurable. Besides, apa yg not great with being kana driverkan? Hehe. Arrived at the OGH around 11.25am..hehe semangat kami ah! Luckily Ka Zuby reserved a table for us but unfortunately, it can't fit Siti and Chan. Met Ka Hjh Norazlin there w the mum. Didn't linger that long. We left as soon as the bride and groom entered the ballroom.

BFF

Lunch time yesterday, I was caught in the act. No! I didn't do anything kinky or anything equivalent to that. Me and my BFF had a heart-to-heart talk and honestly, I didn't expect it at all. She txted me early Friday morning (as in 1+ am) and I knew something is wrong but I can't put my fingers on it. So, yesterday, terkejut beruk ku eh! Haha.

But m glad we had that talk. We rarely talked about 'this' thing or shall I say never. For her, to come up to me and talk to me about this, makes me loves her more! Somehow, you just never realise what a beautiful and faithful a friendship could be and for me, to discover that with her, I have to say it's the most beautiful thing that happened to me.

M8! Loving you to bits!! Can't wait to celebrate our annivesary together!

Dear Nose, Please Stop Running

M having my sinusitis again! Urgghhh! I think m allergic to my rabbits. Allergic to fur? Nakkan jua. Cuddling c lampoh (the cat) endlessly for the past 9 years, not as bad as now. I was feeding them (the rabbits) this morning, had a meeting in a cool, air-conditioning room, finished in the middle of the noon and went out under the hot weather; that what must trigger my runny nose....

School Holiday, KK and Weddings

School holiday starts again this Monday. For the last couple of days, the traffic in the morning is less stressful =) and you can feel the holiday mood looming around already. As usual, KK (short for Kota Kinabalu) is always the favourite destination for parents to bring their kids for the holiday. My elder brother took off for KK this morning with his family and his in-law families and i know 2 of my uncles would be going there too soon.

Weddings are also top of the list on things to do during school holiday. 2 weeks school holiday, I already got 2 wedding invitations. 1 would be this weekend.

Happy Feet...and Hand

Spent 2 hours of my friday afternoon pampering my hand and feet. It had been a while I didn't do meni and pedicure so today, out of the blue, I felt like rewarding myself for all the hard work my hand and feet had done for me...hehe. My feet for making me walk faster and my hand for the endless writing. Besides I get a good bargain. Menicure, pedicure and massage for both hand and feet for $20. Couldn't get any better than that and I have to say, the lady did a good job.
